Well, here I am. I have come to the point of never knowing what to write about. My sister keeps asking me, "When are you going to update?". It's just that these days, nothing is coming to mind...to be honest, I don't get on blogger much anymore. I would...if only I could come up with some interesting topics to write about, and put it all together. Life has been pretty busy lately. Each week passes, and before I know it, another month passes. I have a feeling 2009 has no intentions of slowing down.
A week ago, I had the privilege of going to a one day music camp called "Stringtastic" with some friends from church. We (Amber and I) left the house at around 6:30am, and didn't get home until about 7:30pm that night. At camp, we basically learned (or at least tried to learn as much as we could) 3 pieces of music.....by playing them for 300 minutes total (talk about a lot of playing time!). I learned a whole lot about music, and what it's like to play in a group (that was the way fun part). At around 3:00pm, we got on stage (oh btw this was held at a college...it was nice) and preformed our pieces in front of a fairly large crowd. I was nervous before coming out on stage, but not so much once I got out there...partly because I was in the back. I messed up a few notes, but kept on going. It's difficult to keep up with the others when you get lost in the music and don't know where you are at! But somehow I made it through. I totally enjoyed the whole experience. It's hard sometimes to get out of your "comfort zone", but it's really worth it when you can look back and smile.....and also be thankful for the opportunity.
Afterwords (man was I ever tired), we went to the college's museum in which dad had done some artwork for a few years ago. It was so neat to see the paintings on the walls because I had remembered some of them from back when he painted them (I was like 7 or 8 at the time). Since it was Autumn's 7th birthday, we went out to eat (at Outback Steakhouse).....and then finally came home. lol. What a day! It wasn't quite over when we go home. Autumn still had to open presents and blow out the candles on her cake. Lol. I had a great day at Stringtastic, and will always remember my first orchestra concert.
Now I am in an orchestra that meets on Monday nights....and they will have their concert sometime in May. I have been a little overwhelmed lately with all the music this lady keeps handing out every time I go. Lots of the pieces have notes that are flats (that can be hard to play on the violin).....and so it's been a struggle to keep up. Also, the music is "simplified" so lots of it doesn't have the melody to I just don't know what this stuff is going to sound like sometimes. But, I still have 2 months to figure it out.....hopefully that's enough time.
Well looks like I found some things to write about after all!

Bandtastic was AWESOME! I told you playing an instrument can be fun! Hope we get to go hiking soon!
Holly,
So good to see you back! I'm glad you enjoyed your music adventure!
I have been at that place with learning a new piece of music that you're ready to scream, give-up, pull your hair out, curl up in a ball in the corner.... But as with most things, practice does make (in my case) as close to perfect as I'm gonna get. :) I'm so proud of you and the commitment you have towards your music. Still looking forward to another family concert.
Take care, love you....
Aunt Joyce
Yay! She updated!
