The Mountain

Do you ever feel like you're on the summit of a mountain, and you wish you never had to leave? It feels like you were made to be there... safe and secure, peaceful and joyous. You look around you and all your troubles look so small. All you can think about is how free your soul feels at that moment. It is as if your eyes are finally open and you can breath in deeply without reservation. When I am "on the mountain" in my walk with the Lord, it is such a special time. I can rest, breath, think, and worship so easily. I wish I could live up on the mountain. But I have to remember, that the sweet time the Lord gives me on the glorious mountain in only for a little while. Those times of refreshment are opportunities to "recharge" my spiritual batteries.... He is preparing me for the valley. That is why it is good to take advantage of every moment when the Lord is especially near. Pray, "Lord, strengthen me as you equip me for the valley." When the time is come for you to take that slow walk down the mountainside toward the valley, remember also that He is right beside you. He is there, holding your hand each step of the way. Have you ever noticed too, that even in the "valley" we can have mountaintop experiences? You may be going through a great trial in a desperately dark "shadow of death" valley, but still you feel closer to Jesus than you ever have. How beautiful. I love how God does things. I'm just so thankful that no matter what, my great God is in control and nothing can ever change that.
